Katie & Austin - April 2025

Katie and Austin had a beautiful April wedding- the rain held off just in time for the ceremony. Their loved ones traveled from all over the world to attend and you could tell how much it meant to them!

Bride and groom wedding in Delaware

How did you meet your significant other? How did they propose?

It's a funny story, we met in a college math class. He spoke to me once, then dropped the class the next day! I thought that was the last I'd see of him, but a year later, we reconnected through a mutual friend, and things just clicked. As for the proposal..., I was stationed in Korea, and we decided to elope in Hawaii because we couldn't wait any longer to be married! The night before our impromptu wedding, he took me to the beach under the stars and got down on one knee! It was such a sweet and unexpected gesture, even though we were already about to get married. It meant the world to me.

Why did you choose The Farmhouse for your wedding?

After our elopement, we wanted to celebrate with our family and friends back home. I was being stationed in Delaware, and with our families in Philly, The Farmhouse was the perfect midpoint. The moment we toured the grounds, we knew it was the right place. It felt like stepping into a fairy tale. We had a spring wedding, and the cherry blossoms were in full bloom, the trees were so green, it was breathtaking. Walking down the aisle felt like a dream. And the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, which made the whole process so much easier.

What was one of your favorite moments on your wedding day?

There were so many! Teaching my 4-year-old niece how to head bang to Pierce the Veil on the dance floor was definitely an adorable highlight! But having friends fly in from all over the world – Colorado, Japan, South Dakota, Florida, Korea – just to celebrate with us was truly special. Dancing the night away with everyone we love most and seeing the smiles on everyone’s faces was amazing! And I loved that my husband kept finding me and picking me up and spinning me around all night (though that may be the only way he knows how to dance)!

What song did you choose for your first dance? What other special details did you include on your big day?

Our first dance was to 'I Don’t Want to Set the World on Fire' by The Ink Spots. It's a song that's always been ours. He knew it from Fallout, and I knew it from the haunted house I worked at! When he realized I loved it too, he told me it would be our first dance song someday! Because we're both big readers, we used book quotes for the table numbers! Each table had a quote from a book we've read together. It was so fun watching people running around table to table reading them all!

Your wedding meal is part of the memory- what dishes (or drinks!) stood out to you or your guests?

All the food was incredible! My guests still bring up how delicious everything was. My husband and I had the filet and potatoes, and they were cooked to perfection. But the baked brie bites were my weakness! The Farmhouse team was incredible – they made sure we were always fed and had a drink in hand, even when we were taking photos at cocktail hour they would bring platters down for us. It was so comforting knowing I didn't have to worry about a thing because they were always there, taking care of everything! And a huge shout out to the staff for being so amazing with food allergies! They really went above and beyond.

What do you hope your guests remember most about your wedding day?

I hope they remember how much fun it was! I envisioned our wedding as one giant dance party with the people we love most, and that's exactly what it was! The dance floor was never empty! I just wanted everyone to have a blast, and I think we pulled it off!

If you had one piece of advice for future couples, what would it be?

Don't stress the small details. The Farmhouse has you covered on so many things you might not even think about. So, take a deep breath, relax, and have fun. Remember, your wedding day is your time to celebrate your love with the people you cherish most. Just soak it all in and enjoy the moment, it goes by fast!
