Karen and Anthony tied the knot this November! They had a beautiful indoor ceremony followed by a fun filled night that kept everyone on the dance floor!
If you could describe your wedding day in one word, what would it be and why?
If we had to sum up our wedding in one word it would be “perfect.” Everything was so organized and our guests are still talking about how amazing everything was, especially the food. That’s always what a bride and groom want to hear!
How did you meet your significant other? How did he/she propose?
Anthony and I met when I was working as a physical therapy aide and he was in need of rehab from shoulder surgery. I knew the second I saw him that I was going to marry him! Five years later, he proposed at the BOTTOM- not the top like most people would expect!- of Bear Mountain in NY state. Of course it was after a long hike up and down the mountain. I think he wanted to make sure I would be up for all of his crazy adventures!
Why did you choose The Farmhouse for your wedding? What were some of your favorite things about the venue?
We chose The Farmhouse for our wedding because we knew we would be having a very small wedding and we wanted something intimate and romantic. The Farmhouse definitely delivered. We also appreciated all of the add-ons, such as the hotel, the cake, etc., which saved us the chore of searching for vendors, since we live in NJ and it was difficult to come to Delaware every weekend. From the time we booked The Farmhouse to the day of the wedding, we really felt like things were taken care of behind the scenes and we didn’t have to worry about anything.
What was one of your favorite moments on your wedding day?
Karen: “My favorite moment of the wedding was finally coming down the stairs from the bridal suite, walking around the corner, and seeing Anthony waiting for me at the altar.”
Anthony: “My favorite moment was exchanging our vows. It was so personal and we hadn’t read each other’s vows beforehand. Somehow they were very similar! I think that just goes to show that we truly are meant for each other.”
What song did you choose for your first dance? What other special touches did you include on your big day?
Anthony: “Our first dance song was “Because You Loved Me” by Celine Dion. Karen loves Celine and the lyrics really mean so much to us. We have been each other’s support system through some really difficult times and that’s what you need in your life partner.”
Karen: “Anthony gifted a necklace to me the night before our wedding, and it has a diamond that was from my grandmother’s ring. That means more to me than anything in this world. It’s truly a priceless gift.”
“Another really important element that we included was a memorial table. We wanted to remember our loved ones that couldn’t physically be with us on our wedding day but we always carry them in our hearts.”
If you had one piece of advice for couples starting the wedding planning process, what would it be?
Karen: “My advice for future couples would be don’t sweat the small stuff! It really does all work out in the end.”
Anthony: “My advice would be to dance to every slow song. Those moments are very special and precious.”
